Libya’s National Oil Corporation has announced a new oil discovery in the Sirte Basin, located in central Libya.
According to a statement on its official website, the discovery was made by OMV’s Libya branch, marking the Austrian company’s first exploration activity in the area.
Test results revealed that the exploratory well is producing over 4,200 barrels of oil per day, along with more than 2.6 million cubic feet of natural gas daily.
OMV had earlier revealed in late 2023 that it resumed exploratory drilling in its Sirte Basin concession after nearly 13 years of suspension.
