The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that operators drilled two new oil and gas production wells in Egypt’s Western Desert to support higher local output.

The ministry said Agiba Petroleum Company drilled the Dorra 36 and West Yasmine 3 wells, with early testing showing strong natural flow from both sites.

Preliminary figures indicate the wells will deliver about 1,650 barrels of crude oil per day along with roughly 19 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Agiba Petroleum added that teams are already working to connect the wells to existing facilities so production can begin as quickly as possible.

In December 2025, the ministry signed agreements with international partners to drill 26 oil and gas exploration wells during the first quarter of 2026.

Separately, Dana Gas of the UAE reported a new onshore gas discovery in the Nile Delta after successfully drilling the North El Bassant 1 exploration well.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi said Egypt’s natural gas production continues to rise steadily and has reached about 4.2 billion cubic feet per day.
