Valaris Limited secured a five-well contract for its drillship, VALARIS DS-15, to operate offshore West Africa. The drilling campaign is scheduled to begin in Q3 2026.
The contract, estimated to last 250 days, is valued at approximately $135 million. This includes upfront payments for rig upgrades and mobilization but excludes additional service provisions.
The agreement also offers priced options for up to five additional wells, with a potential duration of 80 to 100 days.
Valaris President and CEO, Anton Dibowitz, expressed enthusiasm about securing another job for a high-specification drillship.
As part of the deal, Valaris will upgrade the rig with an advanced managed pressure drilling (MPD) system.
Dibowitz noted that the award highlights the industry’s preference for contractors capable of handling complex drilling with modern, seventh-generation drillships.
He also emphasized that the contract strengthens Valaris’ position in West Africa, enhancing prospects for future opportunities in the region.
