TotalEnergies has entered into new agreements to explore offshore Liberia, securing fresh acreage through the nation’s latest licensing exercise. The awarded areas stretch across the southern end of the Liberia Basin, opening up fresh opportunities in deepwater territory.
As part of its initial commitments, the company will launch a detailed seismic study to better understand the subsurface potential. This step lays the foundation for wider exploration efforts in the coming years.
Speaking on the development, a senior executive at the company highlighted the enthusiasm to participate in Liberia’s renewed offshore drive. He noted that these blocks complement the company’s broader strategy of widening its exploration reach into new, high-potential oil regions.
The company also underlined that the terrain could hold prospects capable of delivering meaningful discoveries. Such finds would support the goal of developing projects that are both efficient and lower in emissions, drawing on its long-standing expertise in deepwater operations.
