Renaissance Group confirmed today 18 March 2025 that an explosion occurred on its Trans Niger oil pipeline in Rivers State and has deployed a team to investigate, spokesperson Tony Okonedo announced.

The Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP), which can transport approximately 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day, serves as a key link between onshore oilfields and the Bonny export terminal.

The consortium, comprising Nigerian exploration and production firms Aradel Energy, First E & P, Waltersmith, and ND Western, along with the international energy company Petroline, now manages Shell’s former onshore operations in Nigeria.

Okonedo stated that a joint investigation team has arrived at the site but did not disclose additional details.

Local environmental organization Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) reported that the explosion took place on Monday night in the Bodo community of Gokana local government area in Rivers State.
