The National Oil Corporation has restarted production at the Sinawen oil field in the Nalut area after a shutdown that lasted more than three and a half years.
The corporation said financial and technical problems linked to pipeline shipments to the Mellitah Oil and Gas Complex led it to suspend output.
It added that the Arabian Gulf Oil Company has begun restoring production in stages after completing maintenance work and resolving operational issues, while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.
The corporation said it is taking this step to increase output, raise state revenue, and support the national economy.
It noted that the Sinawen field, which opened in 2020, plays an important role in western Libya’s oil infrastructure.
The corporation expects the gradual return of pumping to lift production levels and generate additional funds to support local development projects and essential services.
