Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S. energy company Chevron to carry out a joint study on shale oil and gas reserves across several of the country’s sedimentary basins, according to an NOC statement.

The statement said early estimates indicate the Libyan basins hold around 123 trillion cubic feet of gas and about 18 billion barrels of oil.
