A new well drilled in Libya’s Zliten field is now producing a steady 1.985 barrels of crude oil per day, marking another step forward in the country’s upstream operations.

Interim NOC president Masoud Suleiman praised the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company (SOPC) for successfully completing the drilling and testing of the C357H-6 horizontal well, located about 160 kilometers southeast of Tripoli.

The crude oil extracted is water-free and of notably good quality, reinforcing the potential of the Zliten field.

Demonstrating technical growth, SOPC engineers completed the operation without resorting to complex and expensive directional drilling methods—relying instead on experience and precise planning.

Leadership described the achievement as a strong testament to the skill of local professionals, who continue to drive efficiency and reduce costs without compromising service quality.
