Drilling for the MaBoMo Phase 2 development on the Dussafu license offshore Gabon is expected to begin around July 2026. The campaign will start with four production wells from the existing BW MaBoMo mobile production unit, while BW Energy is still assessing plans for two additional appraisal wells.
BW Energy, the Norwegian operator of the asset, expects first oil between late 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. The company says the project will help offset natural production decline and increase output at the field.
The planned wells are expected to restore gross production at the Dussafu license to about 40,000 barrels of oil per day. Crude from the development will be processed at the nearby FPSO BW Adolo through an existing 20-kilometer subsea pipeline.
BW Energy also says it is advancing the nearby Bourdon prospect toward a final investment decision using the MaBoMo development model as the basis for a wider cluster approach.
According to the company, Gabon’s Ministry of Petroleum and Gas has approved a 20-year extension of the Dussafu Marin production license through 2048 to support continued development activities.
