Etu Energias has launched a redevelopment campaign at Block 2/05 in Soyo, Zaire Province, to help boost Angola’s national oil production. The company has deployed the SMS ESSA jack-up rig to lead the operation.
The drilling program includes three development wells, one exploration well, and five workovers on existing wells.
As the block operator, Etu Energias is working in partnership with Poliedro, Kotoil, Falcon Oil, and Prodoil. The initiative meets the minimum work commitments agreed with Angolan authorities and is a key part of the broader strategy to increase output and unlock value from the block.
Board Chairman Edson R. Dos Santos described the rig’s arrival as a strategic step toward strengthening national crude production, highlighting the growing technical and financial strength of Etu and its partners.
Commissioned in 2020 at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry’s shipyards, the SMS ESSA rig is built for operations in up to 30 meters of water and is equipped with advanced capabilities to ensure safe and efficient drilling.
