Italian energy giant Eni has restarted offshore exploration drilling northwest of Libya, the country’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced, marking the end of a five-year break.
In 2024, Eni joined forces with BP to restart exploration efforts in Libya, a decade after onshore drilling stopped in 2014 when the civil war split the nation into rival administrations.
According to NOC, Eni resumed work on a well that had been suspended in 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced drilling activities to halt.
