Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals says it will no longer sell petrol in naira from Sunday, September 28, 2025. This comes after the refinery exhausted its crude allocations, making it impossible to keep local currency transactions going.

In its statement, the Group Commercial Operations explained that the refinery had already sold beyond the quota tied to naira-based crude. With that limit exceeded, the company said the only option left was to suspend naira sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

For buyers who have already paid in naira, Dangote is offering refunds, though customers will need to submit formal applications for processing.

The refinery stressed that this decision was not permanent. “The suspension of naira sales for PMS will take effect from Sunday, September 28, 2025,” it said, adding that updates will be shared as soon as supply conditions improve.

For now, stakeholders and customers will have to wait to see how this suspension affects both pricing and distribution in the coming weeks.
