The Republic of Congo is advancing LNG, deepwater, and brownfield projects as it works to increase oil and gas production and attract more upstream investment.

Natural gas is driving much of this growth. Eni expanded the Congo LNG project with the Nguya floating LNG unit, raising export capacity from 0.6 million to 3 million tonnes per year and strengthening Congo’s position as an LNG supplier in Central Africa.

Offshore oil development is also progressing. TotalEnergies is moving forward with work on the Moho license and expects its infill drilling program to add about 40,000 barrels of oil per day.

Trident Energy is extending the life of its offshore assets through redevelopment and subsea optimization. The company is also planning a floating LNG project to support future gas production and exports.

Ammat Global Resources is expanding activities at the Loango and Zatchi fields, where redevelopment work and well reactivations are increasing production.

The government is supporting these projects with reforms. Its new Gas Code provides a framework for gas commercialization, while the Gas Master Plan aims to expand gas use, reduce flaring, and strengthen power generation.

Congo is also preparing a new upstream licensing round to attract more exploration and development investment across both mature and frontier blocks.

With LNG exports increasing, offshore projects advancing, and new policies in place, Congo continues to strengthen its oil and gas sector and attract upstream investment.
