Chevron announced it will explore for oil and gas offshore Guinea-Bissau, focusing on two blocks within the MSGBC Basin.
The MSGBC Basin, which spans Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Conakry, has drawn strong interest from the energy industry following several major discoveries in recent years.
Liz Schwarze, Chevron’s vice president for exploration, said the company is excited to start a new partnership with Guinea-Bissau, describing it as part of Chevron’s broader strategy to expand its portfolio with high-quality exploration assets.
Chevron’s subsidiary in Guinea-Bissau will operate Blocks 5B and 6B, holding a 90% stake, while Petroguin, the national oil company, retains the remaining share.
