BW Offshore Limited has officially transferred the operations and maintenance duties of the FPSO BW Adolo to BW Energy Gabon, a subsidiary of BW Energy Limited. All three companies operate under the umbrella of BW Group, a Singapore and Oslo-based maritime conglomerate focused on shipping, oil and gas production, and floating energy infrastructure.
Through an updated bareboat charter, BW Offshore’s subsidiary keeps ownership of the vessel and will continue leasing it to BW Energy Gabon under previously agreed terms, excluding operational responsibilities. The agreement also provides both companies with an option to buy or sell the vessel in 2028 for $100 million.
BW Offshore confirmed that both firms are collaborating on a smooth transition of operations, expected to be completed by June 30, 2025, with a focus on safety and continuity.
BW Energy Gabon has been expanding its oil production footprint, recording 27,700 barrels per day gross in 2024, which translates to 20,360 barrels per day based on its working interest. This output represented 74% of BW Energy Limited’s total global production, which also includes assets in Brazil and Namibia.
BW Offshore CEO Marco Beenen stated that transferring operational control to BW Energy Gabon aligns with their expanding footprint in the country and their capacity to streamline operations across local assets. He emphasized that the smooth handover reflects both teams’ dedication to safety, environmental protection, and asset integrity.
The FPSO BW Adolo can process 40,000 barrels of oil daily, handle 18 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, and inject up to 60,000 barrels of water per day, with total storage capacity reaching 1.35 million barrels.
Carl K. Arnet, CEO of BW Energy, noted that assuming full operational control will enable his team to boost performance and unlock more synergies within the Dussafu field. He also expressed appreciation for BW Offshore’s excellent management of the vessel and ongoing support during the transition.
