ANPG and Azule Energy announced that they had achieved first oil from three production wells under the Ndungu full field development.
This marks another step forward in the Agogo Integrated West Hub Project and supports efforts to increase recovery from the western fields in Block 15/06.
Azule Energy operates the Agogo IWH project in Block 15/06 with a 36.84 percent stake, alongside Sonangol E&P with 36.84 percent and Sinopec International with 26.32 percent. The Ndungu field lies about 10 kilometers from the NGOMA FPSO in water depths of roughly 1,100 meters. The full development includes seven production wells and four injection wells and is expected to reach peak output of 60,000 barrels of oil per day.
Project teams across reservoir management, drilling, engineering, and operations worked together to deliver the Ndungu full field start-up.
Operators are processing early production through a subsea tieback to the existing West Hub network and the NGOMA FPSO. This allows Ndungu to produce ahead of its later transfer to the AGOGO FPSO. The field reached full production six months after first oil from the Agogo FPSO, highlighting the pace of execution while maintaining safety standards.
Paulino Jerónimo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANPG, said the milestone reflects continued investment in Angola’s natural resources and ongoing cooperation with operators to expand production and strengthen national workforce capacity. Joseph Murphy, CEO of Azule Energy, said that bringing Ndungu online supports the Agogo Integrated West Hub’s progress toward higher output, with Agogo and Ndungu expected to reach a combined peak of about 175,000 barrels per day.
The phased integration of Ndungu into the Agogo Integrated West Hub will see production move from the NGOMA FPSO to the AGOGO FPSO over time. This approach will support sustained output from Block 15/06 and contribute to Angola’s overall oil production targets.
