The Angolan upstream petroleum regulator, the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), has received nine bids from three foreign companies aiming to operate five acreages in the onshore Kwanza Basin.

These blocks include KON 1, KON 3, KON 7, KON 10, and KON 14.

During a ceremony, ANPG announced that companies submitted their proposals as part of the limited public tender for blocks that remained unallocated from the 2023 public tender.

ACE Energy and Power Consultants, Prime Africa Trade Pte Ltd, and Walcot Group are among the participating bidders.

ANPG stated that the process follows Presidential Decree No. 86/18, issued on April 2.

Once validated, the competing companies will undergo a Due Diligence process to determine the final selection.

ANPG Executive Director Alcides Andrade emphasized that the goal is for investors to promptly begin oil activities and fulfill their agreed work plans.

He highlighted that this process aims to ensure the sustainability of Angola’s oil sector and production.

The Competition Jury Board, chaired by ANPG, includes representatives from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, and the Ministry of Finance.
