Eni Ghana and its partners, Vitol Upstream Ghana Ltd and GNPC, have successfully expanded their gas processing facilities, pushing capacity to 270 million standard cubic feet per day.

This development plays a crucial role in strengthening Ghana’s energy reliability and advancing its shift toward cleaner energy sources. Since starting in 2018, the OCTP project has grown into a major domestic gas supplier, now meeting around 70% of national demand primarily for power generation.

Gas output initially stood at 210 MMSCFD, but through continuous improvements, the partners have steadily raised this figure. The most recent upgrade, finalized on July 13, enhances the consistency of gas delivery while further cutting reliance on oil-fueled electricity.

Today, OCTP-sourced gas contributes to about a third of Ghana’s electricity, providing households, businesses, and industries with a cleaner and more dependable power option.

Eni Ghana’s managing director highlighted the achievement as proof of strong collaboration and shared dedication to the country’s sustainable energy goals.

Eni operates the OCTP project with a 44.4% share, followed by Vitol with 35.6% and GNPC with 20%. In addition to energy production, the partners also invest in community-focused initiatives such as vocational training, clean water access, and local economic growth.

Since entering the Ghanaian market in 2009, Eni has maintained production levels at roughly 34,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
