GasEntec has signed contracts with ELTON Logistics & Services to supply a jetty-based LNG regasification unit and related onshore infrastructure for the Dakar LNG Terminal in Senegal.
The project represents a significant move to boost Senegal’s energy capacity and is expected to stand out as a leading LNG import facility in West Africa.
When completed, the terminal will deliver natural gas to a 300MW combined cycle power plant in Cap des Biches in Dakar, which is the country’s largest, along with other power plants, industries, and customers in the region.
Senegal is pushing to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on traditional fuels, while also supporting economic and industrial growth.
Authorities awarded the project to meet urgent power sector needs, highlighting its importance for the country’s short-term energy security.
GasEntec plans to deliver first gas on a fast timeline, with full operations expected by the first half of 2027.
Babacar Tall, CEO of ELTON Logistics & Services, said the terminal is a major step toward improving energy security and supporting Senegal’s growing industrial sector. He also expressed confidence in GasEntec’s experience in LNG regasification.
The Dakar LNG Terminal will support reliable power generation and provide a more stable and flexible energy supply for industrial users.
By enabling LNG imports, the facility will help close energy gaps and support a shift toward cleaner fuel options.
Arieh Mimran, Chairman of GasEntec, said the company is proud to support Senegal’s energy transition and described the project as an important part of the country’s development and energy independence.
The project will use GasEntec’s own regasification technology, which allows for faster installation and flexible operations.
The modular design will help speed up delivery while maintaining strong technical and safety standards.
Joongin Ko, Chief Project Officer at GasEntec, said the project shows how the company’s technology can be deployed quickly while meeting strict requirements.
GasEntec, based in South Korea, has completed LNG projects across several regions, including Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, working with governments, utilities, and industrial clients.
The Dakar project strengthens GasEntec’s presence in Africa and supports its role in delivering LNG solutions in emerging markets.
As Senegal works to become a regional energy hub, the Dakar LNG Terminal will help meet current power needs and support long-term growth by providing reliable energy infrastructure.
