The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya revealed a recent discovery in the Alihib field, situated south of the coastal city of Brega.
According to the NOC, the new well is producing an impressive 16.8 million cubic feet of natural gas and 626 barrels of crude oil per day. The well was drilled to a depth of 2.6 kilometers by the Sirte Oil Company, a subsidiary of the NOC, and successfully tested last Saturday.
The NOC stated that this discovery is part of the corporation’s strategic plans and budgetary allocations aimed at increasing Libya’s overall hydrocarbon production.
The increased gas output is anticipated to play a crucial role in fulfilling the energy requirements of the country’s coastal electricity grid.
