During a meeting attended by BP’s CEO Murray Auchincloss and Executive Vice President of Gas and Low Carbon Energy, Anja Dotzenrath, BP announced the drilling of two wells as part of the Raven Field’s development plan, emphasising the company’s heightened investment commitment in Egypt.
Notably, El Molla also highlighted the strong partnerships in Egypt’s petroleum sector and BP’s strategic role, emphasising their successes in oil and gas research, development, and production operations. According to Egypt’s top energy official, the country anticipates receiving approximately $17 billion in investments in its oil and gas sector by 2030.
The Raven gas and condensate field is the fifth field of the West Nile Delta project in the North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deepwater offshore blocks in Egypt. It marks the final phase of the West Nile Delta project, following the first (Taurus/Libra) and second (Giza/Fayoum) phases, which commenced production in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
Using deep-water, long-distance tie-back technology, the Raven field transports gas through sub-sea pipelines to the newly constructed onshore processing facility near the existing Giza and Fayoum facilities. This development involves eight production wells reaching the shore, where the new Raven onshore plant is located. The sub-sea aspect of the Raven project, completed in 2019, utilised ten construction vessels alongside the Giza and Fayoum projects for execution.
