Woodside Energy has raised its estimate of hydrocarbon reserves at the offshore Sangomar oil field, which it operates off Senegal’s coast.
The company revised its assessment after analyzing the performance of the S500 reservoirs, which added 16.2 million barrels of oil equivalent to the proven reserves (1P).
With this update, Woodside now estimates the field’s proven and probable reserves (2P) at 15.4 million barrels of oil equivalent, exceeding initial projections.
This increase reinforces the field’s production stability, which is expected to stay around 100,000 barrels per day.
Sangomar’s oil production is also strengthening Senegal’s refining sector. The Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR) recently processed 650,000 barrels of crude from the field, marking a milestone in integrating the country’s petroleum value chain.
