Egypt has received $1.3 billion from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to fund green energy projects over the next five years, the Managing Director of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED), Heike Harmgart, told the Middle East News Agency (MENA) in an interview on January 9th.

This action is part of the Nexus of Water, Food, and Energy (NWFE) program’s framework.

According to Harmgart, funds allocated to the NWFE initiative included $1 billion for new wind power projects and $300 million for public power infrastructure construction.
