PetroNefertiti has discovered new oil and gas-bearing reservoirs in Egypt’s Eastern Desert.

The Lorcan-6 exploration well in North Zeit Bay recorded production test results of 1,500 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 8 million standard cubic feet of associated gas per day (MMscf/d), according to a statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum.

The well is expected to be connected to a production facility once testing and the necessary technical work have been completed.

Lorcan-6 is among the 101 exploration wells planned by Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum for 2026 under a $1.3 billion exploration program. Five of these wells are scheduled for the Eastern Desert.

Egypt aims to increase its crude oil and condensate production to 750,000 barrels per day by 2030, representing a 42% increase from the 527,000 barrels per day recorded in September 2026, according to recent statements by the country’s Petroleum Ministry.

PetroNefertiti is a joint venture between Egypt’s state-owned Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope) and South Korea-owned Dana Petroleum.
