Sintana Energy successfully drilled the Mopane-2X well in Namibia’s PEL 83 block, where it encountered high-quality light oil. The discovery adds to growing evidence of the area’s strong oil potential and could support the company’s future growth. Sintana also holds a 49% indirect interest in Custos Energy, which owns a 10% working interest in PEL 83 alongside partners Galp and NAMCOR.

Galp will review the newly collected data over the coming weeks to determine whether the discoveries are commercially viable. The results of this assessment will help guide Sintana’s next steps and shape its future investment plans.

The latest discovery marks the third light oil find in the Mopane complex. Together with the appraisal results from the AVO-1 reservoir, it strengthens confidence in the project’s potential and reinforces Namibia’s growing reputation as an attractive destination for oil and gas investment. The development could also encourage further investment and contribute to local economic growth.
