TGS has secured a major 4D seismic acquisition contract offshore Angola. The work will support its activity in Africa and keep one of its vessels in use through to 2027.
The project is set to start in early July 2026 and will run for about eight months. TGS will deploy its Ramform vessel and GeoStreamer system to collect detailed marine seismic data for offshore reservoir monitoring.
The contract reflects ongoing offshore oil and gas activity in Angola. The country has continued to expand deepwater projects, which increases the need for advanced geophysical surveying.
4D seismic compares datasets collected at different times to track changes in underground reservoirs. Operators use it to improve production planning and manage aging offshore fields more effectively.
TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said the contract strengthens the company’s position in Africa and ensures steady vessel use into early 2027.
He added that the company will keep focusing on providing data and energy insight services that match industry needs.
TGS said the use of Ramform vessels with GeoStreamer technology improves seismic imaging and helps operators get clearer offshore data.
