TotalEnergies discovered hydrocarbons during a drilling campaign aimed at expanding its Moho field offshore the Republic of Congo.

The well encountered about 160 metres of oil and gas. TotalEnergies said the Moho G discovery, along with the earlier Moho H find, holds close to 100 million barrels of recoverable resources.

TotalEnergies currently produces around 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from the Moho deep offshore field, located about 80 km from the coast of Pointe-Noire, using two floating production units.

The company plans to link the Moho F and Moho G discoveries to the existing Moho facilities.

Nicola Mavilla, Senior Vice President Exploration, said the new discovery is close to existing infrastructure, which allows for a faster and more cost-effective development.

TotalEnergies EP Congo operates the Moho licence with a 63.5 percent stake, alongside Trident Energy with 21.5 percent and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo with 15 percent.
