The Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced it will begin producing 50 million liters of petrol daily to demonstrate that domestic refineries can meet Nigeria’s petrol demand.

Aliko Dangote, president and CEO of Dangote Industries Limited, shared over the weekend that the refinery plans to deliver 1.5 billion liters of petrol to the Nigerian market in December 2025 and January 2026, ensuring a steady fuel supply throughout the festive season and into the New Year.

Dangote said, “To support national wellbeing and maintain our record of fuel availability during holidays, the refinery will supply 1.5 billion liters of petrol this month. That is 50 million liters per day. We have formally informed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority of this commitment. We will provide another 1.5 billion liters in January and increase to 1.75 billion liters in February, reaching more than 60 million liters per day.”

During a visit from the South-South Development Commission to the refinery and Dangote Fertilizer complex, Dangote added that the facility currently holds sufficient stock and produces between 40 and 45 million liters of petrol daily.

He said the daily output of 50 million liters will prove that domestic refineries can meet national demand, addressing past doubts about their capacity.

Dangote also mentioned ongoing talks with petroleum marketers to improve distribution, including expanding transport using CNG-powered vehicles.
