Dangote Group has formed a partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to support the next stage of expansion at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
According to Dangote Group, this partnership will bring advanced technology and services to help the refinery boost its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, achieving a key step in the company’s plan to build the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.
Dangote Group said Honeywell will provide specialized catalysts, equipment, and process technologies. These tools will allow the refinery to handle a wider range of crude types efficiently while improving product quality and operational reliability.
Honeywell, a global Fortune 100 industrial and technology company, offers solutions in aviation, automotive, industrial automation, and advanced materials. Its UOP division has been working with Dangote since 2017, supplying proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration equipment, high-performance column trays, and heat exchanger technologies that support the refinery’s operations.
Dangote Group is also expanding its petrochemical production. As part of this collaboration, the company will increase its polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tons annually using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene serves as a key industrial material in the packaging, manufacturing, and automotive industries.
Alongside refining and petrochemical growth, Dangote Group is moving forward with the next phase of its fertilizer plan in Nigeria. The company will raise its urea production from 3 million metric tons to 9 million metric tons per year. The current plant has two trains of 1.5 million metric tons each, and the expansion will add four more trains to meet growing demand in Africa and international markets.
