Trina Solar Co., Ltd. of China Signs Agreement to Supply Vertex N Series Modules for a 195-MW Utility-Scale Solar Project in South Africa, Joining Familiar Associates.
The Chinese solar panel maker announced on Tuesday that it is partnering again with South African solar projects developer Sola Group and construction engineering group Wilson Bayly Holmes-OOvcon Ltd, shortly after the trio struck an agreement for the 135-MW Merak 1 project in the country.
This time, the companies will collaborate on the Springbok solar project, situated in South Africa’s Free State province. Sola Group is in charge of the engineering, financing, operations, and maintenance sides of this project, according to information available on its website.
According to the Chinese manufacturer, Trina Solar, the Springbok plant will deploy 331,200 panels of its Vertex n-type modules, marking it as “the first and largest privately developed n-type utility-scale project” in South Africa. The statement further mentions that, once operational, the solar farm will serve multiple off-takers.
