A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Terra Sola, a Swiss renewable energy producer, and H2 Industries will promote the growth of green hydrogen projects throughout Africa.
The partnership supports Terra Sola’s development of large-scale integrated solar energy projects for selected countries throughout Africa that are integrated with liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) technology from H2 Industries.
These initiatives might make it possible to store and release electrical energy for export, usage as a local industrial feedstock, grid stabilization, and/or off-grid power accessibility.
The multimillion-dollar cooperation is aimed at accelerating the transition of local industries to renewable energy, driving electrification, and boosting socio-economic development in these selected countries.
Terra Sola brings together financial, technological, and development partners to establish large-scale PV power plants, primarily in the Middle East as well as Africa, where there is a high demand for energy.
Terra Sola, through its Algeria-based development arm, Terra Sola PV Production Algérie, is active in more than 17 African countries with a combined project pipeline of more than 10 GW of installed solar capacity, combined with various socio-economic benefits for their host countries, like education and job-creation programs and the localization of industrial production and knowledge transfer.
The LOHC technology from H2 Industries can transform energy from renewable sources into hydrogen, store and transport it in LOHC, and then release it for use in fuel cells to generate electricity anywhere or for direct use in the industry and/or mobility sectors, on- or off-grid.
