Scatec, a leading Norwegian renewable energy firm, is engaging with Egypt’s Ministry of the Public Business Sector to advance discussions on a solar power plant project integrated with battery storage.

The planned power facility with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW) will be the energy backbone of Egypt’s Nag’a Hammady aluminium complex, offering sustainable and efficient energy supply.

This will be a two-phase project, each with a generating capacity of 500 megawatt-hours (MWh).

The ministry expects the project to support the production of high-quality aluminium and boost Egypt’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly industrial practices.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the initial phase of this ambitious project is projected to conclude within an 18-month timeframe from the signing date.

The second phase is set for completion within an additional 24 months.
