Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that its subsidiary, Zallaf for Oil and Gas, has started producing oil and gas at the Chadar field.
The field is now delivering over 7.5 million cubic feet of associated gas daily, along with 1,500 barrels of crude oil per day.
On its first day of operations, Chadar’s output boosted Libya’s total production, which reached just over 1.4 million barrels per day by the end of 2024.
Located in the Sirte Basin within the NC-126 oil concession, the Chadar field lies southeast of Ajdabiya in eastern Libya.
In a bid to strengthen its downstream operations, Zallaf has partnered with US-based Honeywell for engineering work on the South Refinery project.
The refinery, expected to cost $500–$600 million, will process approximately 30,000 barrels of crude oil daily into standard petroleum products.
