The Egyptian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mahmoud Afifi, and Vaclav Bartuska, the country’s Special Envoy for Energy Security, discussed potential collaboration in new and renewable energy ventures, particularly emphasizing green hydrogen projects.
Ambassador Afifi highlighted Egypt’s recent advancements in energy infrastructure and its aspirations to attract foreign investments in the green hydrogen sector, leveraging the strategic location of the Suez Canal Economic Zone for exports to Europe.
Earlier discussions with Czech officials in August emphasized the potential for Czechia to contribute to the development of Egyptian-European relations in trade, investment, energy, and developmental cooperation. The talks underscored the existing EU-Egyptian Association Agreement and opportunities for collaboration.
The Czech deputy foreign minister voiced support for strengthening relations, particularly in economic and developmental aspects, while addressing concerns related to food security and energy security.
