Algeria’s national oil company, Sonatrach, will resume exploration in Libya’s Ghadames Basin on plots 95 and 96 after a decade-long pause.
Sonatrach and Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) recently reviewed seismic survey data and reevaluated the resource potential in a technical meeting.
Operations will soon restart on the A1-96/2 exploratory well, which has remained inactive for nearly ten years.
The NOC has extended Sonatrach’s Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement to account for delays caused by force majeure, which was lifted in November 2023.
